Sound identification help service for your recordings

As a subscriber you can send us (upload through this site) an audio recording of a sound of a bird or other animal of Sri Lanka which you need help in identifying. This service is free of charge.

Before you do so please first see if you're able to find the answer in the Sound Library section. Guidelines for this are given below†.
Please send brief notes, on where, and when, you heard it, etc. using the online submission form.
An easy way to capture a sound (if you don't use a dedicated audio recorder) is to use a smartphone. You can then send it through the phone.
Note that our response time may vary, depending also on how many such items we have to attend to, received at the time.

† To identify a bird sound go to the Sound Library section, and then, if you have an idea about which family of birds the author of the sound may possibly belong to, click to 'Birds by family groups', then that family, and compare the available sounds of the species in it.

If you cannot guess what the family is, then click to the 'Birds by habitats' option, then the habitat in which you heard the sound, and compare with the available sounds of the species in it.
